Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif . - The Ontario Reign (27-10-1-2), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, played a great game against Las Vegas Wranglers (17-16-1-3) before 8,425, the largest Wednesday crowd of the season. Ontario ended the game with a 4-1 victory.
Although the Reign controlled the puck through the first period, 11 shots to the Wranglers five, they didn't score until 10:53. Brock Sheahan carried the puck from the Reign zone behind Joe Fallon's cage and passed it out to Chris Huxley. Huxley sent a long shot from the blue line and found Colton Yellow Horn at the crease to backhand it in for his 30th tally of the season, for yet another Reign record (fastest to 30 goals previously held by Greg Hogeboom in 64games).
Brodie Sheahan gave the Reign a two-goal lead at the 5:20 mark of the second period. While on the power player, Brock Sheahan sent the puck into the Wranglers end for Kraemer to pick up. From the outside of the left circle Kraemer spotted Brodie Sheahan in front of the net and gave him a perfect feed to wrap around the pads of Fallon. With about two minutes remaining in the period C.J. Stretch intercepted an attempted Wranglers clear and went one-on-one with Mike Madill. Stretch beat him and sent a beautiful wrist shot top shelf past Fallon's blocker. Cameron Burt assisted the goal.
The Wranglers got on the board at the 6:45 mark of the third period. Chris Francis got the rebound off Drew O'Connell's pads and slipped the puck behind the goaltender. Stretch scored his second goal of the game at 10:16. Kraemer rushed the Wranglers end, stopped short to snap a pass to Stretch coming up the middle. The center wristed it under Fallon's right skate just before Andrew Saurer and Matt Clune crashed into the net knocking it off its moorings.
O'Connell earned his second win stopping 19 of 20 shots, Fallon took the loss stopping 26 of 30 shots.
Three Stars:
1. ONT - C.J. Stretch
2. ONT - Kyle Kraemer
3. ONT - Colton Yellow Horn
