Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (35-12-3-2), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, lost their third straight game to the Idaho Steelheads (33-15-1-4) 4-2 before a crowd of 8,766 on Saturday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Dan DaSilva, in his first game back from a 21-game absence, scored first for the Reign to pick up where he left off in 2012, extending his point streak to 11 games. DaSilva picked up a rebound from Everett Sheen's shot on Josh Robinson and eased it past the Steelheads goalie. Brady Calla picked up the secondary assist on the play.
About six minutes later, Idaho evened the score. Sam Carrick held the puck behind the Reign cage and passed it through to David de Kastrozza at the slot who beat Troy Redmann's glove.
Ontario went up 2-1 when C.J. Stretch was found wide open and buried the puck off a cross-ice pass from Justin Pender. Just seconds later, the Steelheads' Brett Robinson scored the second equalizer of the game at 17:34 off a pass from Ben Ondrus who took the draw. In the second period Idaho took their first lead of the game with a power-play goal from Jace Coyle. Carrick picked up his second point of the game with the lone assist.
Idaho closed out the scoring at 14:54 of the third period, taking a 4-2 lead on an insurance marker from David Toews with help from Scott Todd.
Redmann took the loss in his professional debut with 29 saves on 33 shots, Robinson earned the win for the Steelheads, making 27 saves on 29 shots.
