Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats (20-20-3-4) defeated the Prince Albert Raiders (26-16-4-1) 4-2 at the Brandt Centre before 4700 fans on Saturday night. It was the first home game in 20 days for the Blue and White.

The Regina Pats were back on home-ice after a twenty day absence which included a six game road trip through B.C. and the U.S. The Pats played host to their provincial rivals, the Prince Albert Raiders, a team they have not beaten in four meetings this season, including losing two in OT and one in a shootout. Trade deadline pick-up Cole Sanford introduced himself to the hometown crowd opening the scoring with the only goal in the first period. Period two saw a Sam Steel goal disallowed after a review showed it did not cross the line. Twenty seconds later, the Raiders evened the game up at one, eight minutes in to frame two. In the third, P.A. took the lead in the early going on a goal from Simon Stransky. Regina answered back when Adam Berg tied things up with eight minutes left. The game winner would come at the 18 minute mark from Sam Steel beating Ian Scott. Steel would add an empty net goal to seal the deal.

What's Next? The Pats are back in action on Sunday, January 24, when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings in a 4 p.m. puck drop. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.ca, the Brandt Centre Box Office and Safeway locations throughout Regina.
