LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C.- On a crisp evening, the (5-3) Florence RedWolves took a trip down I-20 to hash it out with their in-state and in-division rival, the Lexington County Blowfish at the newly built, Lexington County Baseball Stadium. The RedWolves went on to win, 5-1 with two back-to-back solo homeruns.

Both pitchers were dialed in from the get-go, but Florence would be the first one to strike in the top of the third. The RedWolves' nine-spot hitter and second leadoff man, Shuler Ward (Francis Marion University) got the red and black going with a solo blast over the left field walk, taking the 1-0 lead. Chris Adams (Lee University) followed suit and cranked a solo shot of his own over the right field wall for back-to-back jacks. With one away, Chaz Pal (USC-Aiken) doubled down the left field line, Ben Holland (Lee University) drove Pal in with the RBI single to right. This gave Florence the 3-0 lead going into the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, Lexington County's Howard Joe (Mercer), cut the deficit to two with a solo homerun, making it a 3-1 ball game.

The RedWolves were able to bat in two more insurance runs in the top of the ninth off of Lexington's Trevor Bradley (USC-Aiken). Adams began the inning with a leadoff walk, his second walk of the evening. Catcher, Nathan Wierzgac (Lee University) laid down a sac-bunt, moving Adams to second with one away. Pal then singled to second base, putting runners on the corners. On the ensuing pitch, Pal delayed his steal to second, getting in a rundown. While in the rundown, Adams was able to advance home being credited the stolen base; Pal safe at second and then safe at third after putting on the swim move getting the stolen base. With two-away, third baseman, Matt Williams (University of South Carolina) would reach first base safely on a throwing error by the Blowfish third baseman, scoring Pal on the play for the RBI. These two runs extended the lead by four, giving the RedWolves a 5-1 lead going into the bottom of the ninth.
