RedHawks Win 10th-Straight Home Game, 3-1

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City RedHawks won their 10th consecutive home game with a 3-1 win against the Tacoma Rainiers Thursday in front of a crowd of 3,889 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The RedHawks improved to a Pacific Coast League-best 21-12 overall and are now 3-0 against the Rainiers (21-14) this season. Both teams entered the game with the best records in their respective conferences.
Brett Wallace had two hits and one RBI for the RedHawks. Jonathan Villar also notched two hits and two stolen bases to move into second in the league in stolen bases (12).
In his second start of the season with Oklahoma City, pitcher Asher Wojciechowski (1-0) recorded his first win with the RedHawks, allowing five hits, walking three and striking out three in six shutout innings.
The RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Andy Simunic singled on a ground ball to second base and Brandon Laird scored the first run of the night on a Tacoma throwing error.
Wallace hit a long double to the wall in left field to score Jake Elmore for a 2-0 RedHawks lead in the sixth with two outs. Laird followed with a singled to score Wallace for a 3-0 edge.
Simunic ran to make a huge diving catch at the right field line for the final out of the top of the seventh inning.
Tacoma's lone run of the game came during the top of the ninth. Rich Poythress grounded out to score Mike Zunino.
Blake Beavan (0-2) threw 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out two in the loss.
Oklahoma City's series against Tacoma concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game Friday - a Fireworks Friday and Giveaway Night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The first 2,000 fans through the gate will receive an Oklahoma City RedHawks throwback hat and a fireworks show will follow the game.
