Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release

Today's Game: The RedHawks and Express close out their four-game series with a 7:05 p.m. game at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks will try to break even in both the series and eight-game homestand.

Last Game: Round Rock scored eight runs on eight hits in the ninth inning, including three home runs, in a 9-4 come-from-behind win Sunday. All of the runs scored by the RedHawks came on solo home runs, as the team set a season high with four homers in the game. The RedHawks took a 4-1 lead into the ninth inning, led by two homers from Jonathan Villar. Trailing 4-2, Eli Whiteside's three-run shot gave the Express its first lead. Express third baseman Mike Olt also had a multi-homer game with both dingers coming in the ninth inning. RedHawks starting pitcher Asher Wojciechowski allowed just one run on four hits and struck out a season-high eight batters over six innings. Jose Valdez (3-2) was credited with a blown save and took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Brett Oberholtzer looks to finish the homestand on a wining note...In his last start Wednesday against Iowa, he allowed four runs over seven innings on a pair of two-run homers by Brian Bogusevic. He struck out seven and walked one in a 5-1 loss...For the first time this season, Oberholtzer has lasted at least six innings in consecutive starts. He pitched at least six innings in 10 of 15 starts with OKC in 2012...In five of his last seven starts, Oberholtzer has allowed two or less runs and four or less hits each time. Over the seven starts he is 3-2 with a 3.46 ERA...He ranks second on the team in several categories, including starts (12), wins (4), innings pitched (60.0) and strikeouts (54)...He lost his first start of the season against Round Rock April 16. The lefty pitched five innings and allowed five runs in the third inning on a pair of homers. He allowed just one hit outside of that frame.

Against the Express: 2013: 3-4 2012: 10-6 All-time: 71-63 In OKC: 37-34

The two clubs have alternated wins and losses in each of the first seven games of the season series...The Express has doubled its win total in Oklahoma City from last year (2)...Round Rock has homered 12 times in seven games while the RedHawks have only gone deep six times, including four times yesterday...The RedHawks and Express split a four-game series in Oklahoma City April 16-19...The RedHawks won 10 of 16 meetings with the Express in 2012...The RedHawks have not lost the season series in five of the last six years...Round Rock is once again led by Bobby Jones, the legendary RedHawks skipper who compiled 595 wins and five division titles over eight seasons. He also managed the team when they were the 89ers in 1993-1994.

Valiant Villar: Jonathan Villar recorded his first multi-homer game of his career Sunday with two solo home runs. His first dinger was in the first inning for his second leadoff homer of the season and the first by a RedHawk in OKC since Jimmy Paredes on July 24, 2012 vs. Iowa. He is also the first RedHawk to homer from both sides of the plate since Jason Botts did it against Nashville on April 24, 2006. Villar is batting .347 in June and leads the team this season with 70 hits and paces the PCL with 24 stolen bases.

Singleton's Opening Stanza: Jon Singleton made his long-awaited Triple-A debut with the RedHawks Sunday. He went 2-for-4 with two long doubles -- one off the wall in right field and another off the wall in left field. After missing the first 50 games due to a suspension, Singleton has been making his way to Oklahoma City with stops in Low-A Quad Cities and Double-A Corpus Christi. He homered in each of his first three games this season and between the two levels he hit .271 with five home runs and 13 RBI over 17 games.

Booming Brett: Brett Wallace went 3-for-4 yesterday and has hit safely in all seven games of the current homestand, going 12-for-28. Wallace leads the RedHawks with a .320 batting average and 10 home runs. He is tied with Marc Krauss for the team lead in RBI (35).

To the Max: Astros outfielder Justin Maxwell continued his rehab assignment last night by going 1-for-4 with a home run. He's now 4-for-15 with three RBI over four games for the RedHawks. He's been on the Disabled List with a fractured left hand since April 24.

Dinger Details: The RedHawks set a season high with four home runs in Sunday's game, marking the first time the team had belted four homers in a game since June 27, 2012 at Iowa and the first time at home since May 15, 2012 against Tucson. They have hit 10 home runs during the first seven games of the homestand, bringing their season total up to 50...On the other hand, the RedHawks have allowed at least one home run in eight-straight games, setting a new season high. They have allowed 16 dingers through the first seven games of the homestand, including nine by Round Rock. It's the most homers allowed in one series since Memphis blasted 10 at AutoZone Park July 20-23, 2012. Since the Astros affiliation began in 2011, it's the most homers an opponent has hit in one series in Oklahoma City. Opponents had hit only 20 HR through the first 26 games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark this year.

Mound Maladies: During the current homestand, the pitching staff has allowed at least four runs each game and at least seven runs four times. The team ERA during the homestand is 6.41. It was 3.92 in games in OKC before this homestand began. After posting the league's second-best ERA in May (3.59), their 5.73 ERA this month is second-worst. Round Rock's eight-run ninth inning was the most runs allowed in one inning since Memphis scored eight in the fifth inning on April 5 in the very first game of the year.

Late Inning Drama: Last night was the third time in the past 10 games the RedHawks could not hold on to a ninth-inning lead and the second time this season they lost when leading after eight innings. They had won 38 straight games when leading after eight innings prior to a 2-1 loss in Omaha on June 6. Last night was also the fourth time this year the RedHawks have been involved in a game in which a team trailing in the ninth scored at least five runs, but it was the first by an opponent.

Final Exam: Oklahoma City is 12-5 overall in series finales, including 8-0 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
