Last Game: The Omaha Storm Chasers scored six runs in the sixth inning and four Omaha pitchers combined to shutout the RedHawks in a 7-0 win Sunday afternoon at Werner Park. After a 1-hour, 29-minute rain delay, Omaha took a 1-0 lead with a RBI groundout in the first inning. The Storm Chasers had already scored three times in the sixth inning before Adam Moore hit a three-run home run with two outs. Omaha had only scored six runs in their previous six games combined before Sunday. The RedHawks recorded five hits, all singles, as they were shutout for the third time this season. RedHawks starting pitcher Jarred Cosart (5-3) allowed just two hits, but was charged with four runs in five-plus innings as he issued four walks in the loss.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Philip Humber makes his third start since joining the RedHawks...He took his first loss in his last outing June 4 in Albuquerque. All four runs and four of the five hits came with two outs...In two starts with the RedHawks, Humber has a 3.12 ERA and has allowed two earned runs or less each time. In three relief appearances he has allowed four runs and six hits over 3.1 innings...He previously faced the I-Cubs May 26 in game two of a doubleheader in Iowa. Back to Bricktown: After spending 21 of the last 25 days on the road, the RedHawks are back at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark for an eight-game homestand. Oklahoma City is the lone team remaining in the PCL with single-digit home losses this season and has the second-best home winning percentage (.654). They have won their last three games in downtown Oklahoma City as well as seven of the last 10. The team went 8-12 during their 20 recent road games, including a 3-4 mark on their last road swing.
Hip Hip, Jose: Infielder Jose Martinez rejoined the RedHawks today. Martinez was with the club to begin the season, but he suffered a fractured left wrist after being hit by a pitch on April 6 in just the third game of the year. After about a two-month stay on the DL, Martinez recently played eight games with Double-A Corpus Christi, hitting .455 (15x33) with eight RBI.
Woeful Weather: Including Sunday's delayed start due to rain, the RedHawks have had 11 games impacted by inclement weather this season. It was the second time in three games they did not have an extra-base hit, and they only have five extra-base hits in their last five games. They have not hit a triple or a home run in five consecutive contests. Although the team is tied for sixth in the PCL in batting average (.273), they rank 14th in extra-base hits (159).
Valiant Villar: Jonathan Villar went 9-for-23 during the road trip and leads the RedHawks with 21 multi-hit games this season. He was hitting just .180 on the road before the trip began. Villar leads the league with 19 stolen bases.
Walk This Way: The RedHawks walked only three times yesterday, but have drawn at least five walks in 11 of their last 17 games. They've recorded a total of 87 walks during the 17-game stretch and are tied for fourth in the league with 251 walks this season. Marc Krauss leads the team with 41 walks, which ranks second in the PCL. Krauss (41 BB/39 K) and Che-Hsuan Lin (32 BB/27 K) have each walked more than they've struck out.
