FARGO, N D - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have announced the 100-game 2018 schedule, which features a 50-game home slate and appearances at Newman Outdoor Field by all 11 American Association opponents. The American Association will have a new team in 2018 as the Chicago Dogs, based out of Rosemont, IL, replace the Salina Stockade.
The American Association will now have two divisions, North and South. The North Division will consist of the Chicago (IL) Dogs, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, Gary (IN) SouthShore RailCats, St. Paul (MN) Saints, Sioux Falls (SD) Canaries and Winnipeg (MB) Goldeyes. The South Division will be made up of the Cleburne (TX) Railroaders, Lincoln (NE) Saltdogs, Kansas City (KS) T-Bones, Sioux City (IA) Explorers, Texas AirHogs and Wichita (KS) Wingnuts. The top two teams from each division will advance to the American Association Divisional Series, with the winners facing off in the league finals.
After opening the season on the road with a pair of three-game series against the Texas AirHogs (May 18-20) and Cleburne Railroaders (May 21-23), the RedHawks Home Opener is set for Friday, May 25 at 7:02 p.m. against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Opening Night will feature a post-game fireworks show. Following the three games with the Saltdogs, Fargo-Moorhead will welcome the Sioux Falls Canaries in for three games starting on Memorial Day.
The RedHawks' 2018 schedule will feature seven postgame fireworks nights: May 25 (Opening Night), June 22, July 4 (Independence Day), July 6, July 20, August 3 and September 1 (Fan Appreciation Night). There will be three of the popular Business Day 12:30 p.m. starts: Thursday, June 28; Thursday, July 19; and Thursday, August 2.
In addition to fireworks and business day games, the RedHawks will host seven Friday games, eight Saturday games, and nine Sunday games. The RedHawks will close the season at home from September 1-3 against the Sioux Falls Canaries.
