Redbirds Tie Series In Game Four, 11-8

Decisive fifth game begins at Security Service Field at 1:30 p.m. MT. Sunday

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -A four-run 10th inning helped the Memphis Redbirds tie the best-of-five PCL American Conference championship series with an 11-8 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox in front of 2,501 at Security Service Field Saturday evening.

The first four batters of the second inning reached safely to help the Sox jump out to an early 3-0 lead. Tyler Heineman lined a two-run double into the right field corner to score Nate Orf and Mauricio Dubon, while Kyle Wren lined a one-out single to right to plate Heineman.

Memphis tied the game with three runs in the top of the fifth inning, but Orf responded with a hustle play to help the Sox re-gain the lead. The right fielder drew a two-out walk and stole second. He advanced to third on a throwing error from catcher Jeremy Martinez and then scored when center fielder Tyler O'Neill casually threw the ball back into the infield.

Heineman gave the Sox some insurance in the sixth inning, launching a solo shot to right-center field to increase the hosts lead to 5-3. The three-RBI game for Heineman marks the most in any game in 2017 after posting two-RBI games six times.

The Redbirds countered with a four-run seventh inning, but Wren answered with a two-out, two-run shot to right-centerfield to tie the game. Nick Noonan scored on the sixth long ball of the regular season and postseason for the Sox leadoff batter.

Chris Colabello lined a 10th-inning single to right field, scoring Wren to trim the final margin to three runs. His sixth RBI single in the past two games gave the Sox first baseman seven RBI in the series against the Redbirds.

The decisive game five is slated for 1:30 p.m. MT at Security Service Field, with the winner clinching a spot in the Pacific Coast League championship against the El Paso Chihuahuas. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. and all fans can enjoy 50-cent hot dogs, courtesy of Safeway.
