Memphis Redbirds News Release

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Memphis Redbirds could not get anything going offensively Friday night at New Orleans (Triple-A Marlins) and lost their fourth-straight game, 7-0, to the Zephyrs.

The Redbirds (8-12) had three hits on the night, and Zephyrs (11-11) starter Paul Clemens was perfect into the sixth inning. In their last three games, the Redbirds are 14-for-91 at the plate (.154) and are hitting .164 on their four-game losing streak (22-for-134).

Charlie Tilson extended his hitting streak to eight games with a 1-for-3 showing, and Dean Anna and Anthony Garcia had the other hits for the Redbirds. Destin Hood and Kenny Wilson each had three hits for the Zephyrs, and Elliot Soto homered in the game.

The Redbirds trailed 2-0 after the first, 3-0 after the third and 5-0 after the fourth. Heath Wyatt, Ryan Sherriff, Justin Wright and Dean Kiekhefer relieved Redbird starter Deck McGuire, who took the loss and is now 0-3 but has only received three support runs in his five starts this season.

Two games remain in the Memphis-New Orleans series to be played Saturday night at 6:00 (CT) and Sunday afternoon at 1:00, before the Redbirds return to AutoZone Park for a four-game set with Omaha Monday-Thursday. Tuesday's game is King Cotton $1 Hot Dog Night, and Thursday is College Night with additional Cinco de Mayo specials including all-you-can-eat tacos with a $12 TruGreen Bluff ticket or $15 Field Box ticket, both of which are on special pricing for the night. Tacos will be $2 elsewhere in the park, and margaritas will be $5.

The Redbirds are also offering a Mother's Day celebration ticket package, where fans will receive four Field Box tickets to the game on Saturday, May 21, four food vouchers for a hot dog and soft drink, a $25 gift card to Seasons 52 restaurant and the opportunity for a pregame family picture on the field, all for $89. The game also features postgame fireworks.
