Redbirds rally late, end skid

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds put an end to their season-worst, six-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over Albuquerque Monday night.

With two outs the ‘Birds rallied for five runs to claim the lead in the eighth inning. Jarrett Hoffpauir's walk started the rally and Khalil Greene's two-run double to right field tied the game at 3-3. Allen Craig put the home team on top with a single to left to score Greene. Two batters later Matt Pagnozzi drove in two more runs with a single to cap the five-run rally. Craig finished the night 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Redbirds. Greene and Pagnozzi each had two hits and two RBI. Jason Repko provided all the offense for Albuquerque with a pair of home runs in the loss.

Redbirds reliever Royce Ring picked up the win with one perfect inning of relief. Jess Todd earned his 12th save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning. Albuquerque reliever Henry Bonilla took the loss after allowing three runs on three hits without registering an out in the eighth inning.

Memphis and Albuquerque continue their series tomorrow night with the first 1500 fans receiving Bo Hart bobble heads. Game time is 7:05 p.m. with the ‘Birds sending Adam Ottavino to the hill to face Isotopes right-hander Giancarlo Alvarado.
