MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis used their biggest inning of the year to beat Iowa 6-2 Monday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second the Redbirds put five runs on the board to claim the lead. Brett Wallace led off the inning with a game-tying solo shot to left-center field, his second with Memphis. After singles from Jarrett Hoffpauir and Mark Shorey, Casey Rowlett put the ‘Birds on top with a run-scoring single. With two outs Tyler Greene delivered the knockout punch with a three-run home run to left field. Greene finished the day with two hits and three RBI while Wallace collected his fourth three-hit game as a Redbird. Sam Fuld led the Cubs with three hits.

Memphis starter Mitchell Boggs earned the win with six solid innings of work. The former Georgia standout allowed one run on nine hits with two strikeouts to notch his first win for the Redbirds. Jess Tood retired the only two batters he faced in the ninth for his 10th save of the year. Cubs starter Mitch Atkins was pinned with the loss giving up six runs on 10 hits over four innings.

The Redbirds hit the road tomorrow night at Oklahoma City with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. The ‘Birds send Clayton Mortensen to the mound to face RedHawks right-hander Josh Rupe.
