New York Red Bulls News Release

SECAUCUS, NJ (Nov. 22, 2010) – Red Bull New York released its 11-man protected roster to Major League Soccer ahead of Wednesday's 2010 MLS Expansion Draft at 2:00 PM ET. All current MLS clubs protected 11 players from their 2010 roster today. The League's 17th and 18th teams that are joining in 2011, the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the Portland Timbers, will each select 10 non-protected players during the 10-round draft.

Generation adidas players (who have not graduate at the end of the 2010 season) and Home Grown players are automatically protected and do not count against a team's 11 protected roster spots. New York's protected list is as follows:

Goalkeeper: Bouna Coundoul

Defenders: Chris Albright, Danleigh Borman, Carlos Mendes, Roy Miller, Tim Ream

Midfielders: Mehdi Ballouchy, Joel Lindpere, Rafa Marquez, Dane Richards

Forward: Thierry Henry

Midfielder Tony Tchani (Generation adidas) and forwards Juan Agudelo and Giorgi Chirgadze (Home Grown players) are automatically protected.

In the draft, once two (2) players have been claimed from a club's non-protected roster, that club is eliminated from the expansion draft and may not lose any further players. In addition, once a player has been claimed from a Club's non-protected roster, that Club may move a player from its non-protected roster to its protected roster.

The following New York players are not protected and can be selected by Vancouver or Portland:

Goalkeeper: Greg Sutton

Defenders: Andrew Boyens, Carey Talley

Midfielders: Austin da Luz, Irving Garcia, Brian Nielsen, Carl Robinson, Luke Sassano, Sinisa Ubiparipovic

Forwards: Juan Pablo Angel, Conor Chinn, Salou Ibrahim
