December 3, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Hershey Bears
The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club matched a season high three-game win streak with a road win on Wednesday against the Norfolk Admirals and a home victory Friday against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In Norfolk, Jeff Taffe set up Jon DiSalvatore for two goals, Patrick McNeill scored his first goal of the season for the game-winner, and Braden Holtby made 24 saves in the BEARS' 5-2 win. On Friday, DiSalvatore did it again, racking up a goal and two assists to pace the HERSHEY offense in another 5-2 decision. Boyd Kane and Dmitry Orlov recorded a pair of assists, while Taffe and Zach Hamill each recorded a goal and an assist. Holtby was sharp again, making 22 saves to pick up his third straight win. Norfolk came to town on Saturday, and despite being buried by a record 12,479 stuffed toys on the BEARS annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, earned two goals from Emerson Etem and three assists from Patrick Maroon en route to turning the tables on the BEARS in a 5-1 win. Tomas Kundratek fired in his sixth goal of the season, the only tally for the BEARS but the one that triggered a heaping collection of plush toys for Children's Miracle Network.
The BEARS and Admirals will play their third game in eight days this coming Thursday in the Washington AHL Showcase, set to be put on display at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. - the home of the BEARS' NHL affiliate Washington Capitals. HERSHEY then heads north on Friday for a matchup with their arch rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The team returns home on Saturday for their first game against the Hamilton Bulldogs since February 11, 2009.
