WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force has announced the signing of wide receiver Joe Morrow for 2017 season.
In 2016, Morrow (6'4, 210) appeared in 8 games for the Billings Wolves of the Indoor Football League. Morrow joined the team in week 10 and posted 23 receptions for 292 yards and 4 scores down the stretch for the Wolves. Against the Tri-Cities Fever in week 15, Morrow had his best performance of the season with 8 catches, 107 yards, and 1 touchdown.
Morrow was one of the top wide receiver prospects in the country coming out of Ocean Springs High School in Mississippi, rated the number 30 wide receiver in the nation by Scout.com. Morrow received offers from several SEC schools including LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn before committing to Mississippi State University (11'-15'), where he appeared in 45 games for the Bulldogs. His sophomore season, Morrow totaled 18 catches for 211 yards including his first career touchdown against Texas A&M. Most of Morrow's targets came early in the series with 27 of his 32 targets occurring on first or second downs.
Morrow had his best single game performance against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Orange Bowl in 2014. Bulldog quarterback Dak Prescott connected with Morrow 6 times for 117 yards, both career bests, in the 34-49 loss to Georgia Tech.
Morrow bolsters an already strong wide receiving corps for the Force ahead of February's training camp. At 6'4 with 4.5 speed, Morrow is a lengthy wide receiver who could become a main target for the deep pass as well as a big contributor close to the goal line.
