RODGERS POUNDS OUT FIVE HITS, 'HAWKS BEAT 66ERS AGAIN

Lancaster goes deep three times and overcomes early 5-0 deficit

LANCASTER, Calif. - Brendan Rodgers went 5-for-6 to extend his hitting streak to 17 games and the JetHawks overcame an early deficit to knock off the Inland Empire 66ers, 14-7, on Friday night at The Hangar.

With Rancho Cucamonga's loss in Lake Elsinore, the JetHawks are now two games ahead of both the Quakes and the Storm in the South Division with nine games to play in the first half.

The five hits for Rodgers came in his first five at-bats. He hit a solo homer in the first, then added a double and three singles. His average now sits at a league-leading .402. The home run was his tenth of the season.

Lancaster fell behind 5-0 before they even came to the plate, as Inland Empire scored five runs in the top of the first. After Rodgers went deep in the bottom of the first for the JetHawks, Roberto Ramos added a solo shot in the second. Rodgers and Yonathan Daza each delivered an RBI single in the third.

The JetHawks (33-28) trailed 6-4 heading to the bottom of the fourth and put up six runs to take a lead they would not relinquish. Sam Hilliard's three-run homer highlighted the inning, his ninth of the season. Lancaster added three more in the sixth and one in the eighth.

Garrett Hampson had a two-run single.

Hilliard finished with four runs batted in on the night. He is 5-for-11 in the first two games of the series.

Trey Killian (6-2) recovered from a rough beginning to his start to earn the win. The right-hander tossed five and two-thirds innings and allowed seven runs. At one point, he retired 12 of 13 batters.

Carlos Polanco struck out four over two and one-third innings in relief. Heath Holder pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game.

The win for the JetHawks improved their record to 9-4 against the 66ers this season. Lancaster has won all six games between the two teams at The Hangar.

The four-game series continues on Saturday night at The Hangar. Right-hander Colin Welmon (3-2) will start for Lancaster against right-hander Austin Robichaux (1-2). First pitch is 6:05 p.m.

The JetHawks are in their first season as a Colorado Rockies affiliate. Full Season, Hawks Packs and Group Tickets are available now at jethawks.com, or by calling (661) 726-5400.
