(GAME RECAP): Everett 3 - Swift Current 2 (OT)
SWIFT CURRENT, Saskatchewan - Eetu Tuulola drilled his 15th goal of the season past Taz Burman at 2:53 to help lift the Everett Silvertips to a 3-2 victory in overtime, over the Swift Current Broncos before 2,367 fans at Credit Union iPlex on WHL action on Saturday.
The ended the Silvertips six-game road trip through the East Division at 5-1-0-0, and the Tips have won six of the last seven games to maintain their lead in the U.S. Division at three points while reducing their magic number to four points to clinch a playoff spot, outright.
Devon Skoleski earned a multi point game and Carter Hart made 27 saves to boost the Tips to a five game win streak over Swift Current.
Glenn Gawdin buried his 20th goal of the season, and his first of two in the game, at 1:53 of the first period on a wrister from the right circle. Noah Juulsen responded with a second period power play goal at 13:54 in the second period, his 11th of the season, on a slapper from the right circle.
Carter Hart then kept the 1-1 tie in tact with a series of remarkable saves on scrambles at the net, including a stop on Arthur Miller with less than five minutes left.
Skoleski's 12th goal of the year vaulted the Tips ahead, 2-1 with 7:45 left in regulation when he took a Patrick Bajkov and Jake Christiansen relay off the rush and buried a wrister from the left circle. The Silvertips used puck management to reduce the clock. But with Burman pulled for a sixth skater, Max Lajoie snuck a point shot through traffic that caromed to the back of the net off Gawdin for a 2-2 tie with 1:33 left in regulation.
After two chances at both ends, Tuulola cruised through center ice and buried a blast from the right circle at 2:53 of OT to end the game, sending the Silvertips celebrating onto the ice.
Burman made 30 stops to take the OT loss.
