March 11, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

Boise, ID- The Cincinnati Cyclones (32-25-4-0) picked up a 5-2 win over the Idaho Steelheads on Friday night. Forward Shawn O'Donnell tallied a pair of goals, while forwards Nick Huard, Brandon McNally, and Shane Walsh potted lone markers for the Cyclones, who have now won nine of their last 11 games.

It only took 3:53 for the Cyclones to find the back of the net in this one, as Huard blasted a shot from the right circle off the crossbar and in to put Cincinnati ahead, 1-0.

The Steelheads were not deterred and tied the game roughly three minutes later when forward Jefferson Dahl fired in a rebound from in front of the net, puling Idaho even, 1-1.

That 1-1 score held up throughout the remainder of the opening period, and in the second Cincinnati regained the lead 5:02 in when forward Christiaan Minella dropped a pass for McNally who wristed a shot top-shelf to put the Cyclones ahead, 2-1.

Just like the first, Idaho managed to tie things up near the midway mark of the frame when former Cyclone Brian Nugent buried a shot from the slot to even the game, 2-2, after 40 minutes.

Cincinnati turned up the offense and started to pull away in the third, as 4:17 in McNally sent a feed to Walsh on a 2-on-1 rush and he slipped it past Idaho goaltender Landon Bow to give the Cyclones the lead back, 3-2.

Roughly five minutes later, the Cyclones struck again when O'Donnell took the puck in the right corner and lit the lamp from a sharp angle to extend Cincinnati's lead to 4-2.

The Cyclones put it away with just over a minute to play when O'Donnell fired a shot from inside the Cyclones blueline down the ice and into the open net to seal Cincinnati's 5-2 win.

The Cyclones were outshot, 35-21 on the night, with goaltender Joel Rumpel stopping 33 to collect his fourth-straight win. Cincinnati and Idaho wrap up their two-game series on Saturday night at 9:10pm ET.
