RECAP - Fanti, Hibbs Slam Door on Birds; Claws Win 5-1

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Nick Fanti gave up one run over six innings to lead the BlueClaws to a 5-1 win over Delmarva on Sunday night at FirstEnergy Park as the teams split their four-game series.

Will Hibbs got the last nine outs for his team leading seventh save. Hibbs has not allowed a run over 27 scoreless innings this year.

The win puts the BlueClaws at 29-21, back at a season-high eight games over .500. Delmarva falls to 19-29; they've won four of seven from Lakewood this year.

Fanti (4-0) tied his season high with nine strikeouts, the third time he's fanned nine in a game this year. The left-hander's ERA is 1.52, second best in the league. He's allowed one or zero earned runs in seven of his eight starts this year.

The BlueClaws jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a passed ball in the first inning, but Delmarva leveled the score in the second inning on an RBI double by Jerry McClanahan .

Lakewood then re-took the lead in the third inning on an RBI double from Luke Williams to put the BlueClaws up 2-1.

Shorebirds starter Travis Seabrooke (2-4) came out after five innings, allowing two runs/one earned.

The BlueClaws lead got pushed up to four as Lakewood scored three times off Steven Klimmek in the seventh. Raul Rivas had an RBI single and Mickey Moniak added a two-run double for a 5-1 BlueClaws lead.

Luke Williams went 2-3 in the win, while Carlos Duran went 0-2, snapping his hitting streak at 11 games.

The BlueClaws head to Greensboro and open a series with the Grasshoppers on Monday at 4:00 pm. LHP JoJo Romero (2-1) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Dylan Lee (3-4).
