Rebels' Lamb Named WHL Goaltender of the Month

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Red Deer Rebels goaltender Riley Lamb has been named the Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Month for February 2018.

Lamb went undefeated in the month of February, posting a 8-0-0-0 record, 1.99 goals-against-average, .937 save percentage and one shutout as the Rebels continued to turn around their season and move themselves into a playoff spot in the Central Division.

Lamb's month featured the 19-year-old goaltender going through a four-game road trip of the B.C. Division where he won all four games, including victories against the Kelowna Rockets, Victoria Royals and Vancouver Giants in five days, allowing just six goals over the three games against three playoff contenders. He also recorded wins against the top two teams in the WHL, defeating the Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos.

Lamb was twice recognized as the WHL Goaltender of the Week for the weeks ending Feb. 4 and Feb. 18. He was also named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week during the month.

This season, the 6-foot-0, 176-pound product of Rivers, Man. has compiled a 10-9-3-2 record in 27 games with a 3.23 GAA and .903 SV% and one shutout. For his career, Lamb has appeared in 68 games, all with the Rebels, compiling a 24-21-8-5 record with a 3.32 GAA and .901 SV% with four shutouts.

The Rebels will look to move closer towards clinching a playoff spot when they close out a four-game home stand against the Kootenay ICE Friday, March 2 (7:00 p.m. MST).
