Real Monarchs News Release
HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC welcome MF Mastanabal "Masta" Kacher from Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for the 2018 season, Assistant General Manager Dan Egner announced today. Kacher's signing is pending the approval of his P1 Visa, league and federation approval.
"Masta is a guy that we've been after for a long time," Egner said. "He's been in the league for three years, even though he's only 22 years old. At Colorado Springs he started every match in 2017 and really came into himself. He is lethal and cuts in from the left side and before you know it, you're picking the ball out of the back of the net. He plays the style of football that we like and he's going to fit right in with this group."
Kacher, 22, has spent three seasons in the United Soccer League, playing the 2015 and 2016 seasons at FC Montreal where he played in 36 matches scoring two goals while in Québec. A move away from Canada after the 2016 season saw Kacher land with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC where he started and played all 32 matches in 2017 - the only player to do so in the USL - totaling 2710 minutes while scoring and assisting seven times. Kacher featured on the USL Team of the Week on four occasions last season and his goal against the Monarchs on April 15 was a USL Goal of the Year finalist.
"It feels great to be here in Utah. I've been here just a few days and the organization and coaching staff have already made me feel so welcome," Kacher said. "Last year the Monarchs were champions and every time I played against the Monarchs in the past, I wanted to do well. Now I'm here and looking forward to the challenge and playing for such a great club."
Kacher will join the Monarchs for preseason in Herriman to prepare for the club's regular-season title defense during the club's fourth season.
