RBC Future Stars Assist In Canadian AHL All-Star Victory

PORTLAND, Maine... RBC Future Stars Trevor Fleurent and Matthew Michaud helped the Canadian AHL All-Stars to an 18-12 win over the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars in the 2010 Ducks Unlimited AHL All-Star Skills Competition held tonight at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Fleurent (Biddeford High School, Biddeford, Maine) and Michaud (North Yarmouth Academy, South Portland, Maine) were selected as RBC Future Stars as members of the Canadian AHL All-Stars while Cam Cain (Portland Junior Pirates, Kennebunk, Maine) and Dan Hanley (Falmouth High School, Falmouth, Maine) suited up for the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars. All four players participated alongside American Hockey League All-Stars in select events during the skills competition, and their scores in those events will count toward the final outcome for the evening. Fleurent and Michaud teamed up to win the RBC Future Stars segment of Sher-Wood Puck control Relay and the Ducks Unlimited Accuracy Shooting contest to give the Canadian All-Stars two valuable points. Cain and Hanley took the RBC Future Stars part of the Reebok Fastest Skater event.

Samuel Henley (forward Lewiston Maineiacs QMJHL Val'Dor Quebec) Jake Landry (sophomore at North Yarmouth Academy, Lewiston, Maine), Dixon Pike (forward, Falmouth High School, Falmouth, Maine) and CJ Maksut (forward Thornton Academy, Saco, Maine) also participated as on-ice support staff for the Skills Events.

The RBC Future Stars are presented by RBC, the Official Bank of the American Hockey League. Recent RBC Future Stars include Jerry D' migo (2008) and Jeremy Morin (2008) who won gold medals with the United States at the 2010 World Junior Championships Christian Thomas (2007) currently the leading scorer for the OHL's Belleville Bulls; Cody Eakin (2006), who is currently one of the top scorers in the Western Hockey League skating for Swift Current; and Colin Greening (2002), a senior captain at Cornell University this season. As part of the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic, the Portland Pirates, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, are excited to present an outstanding collection of off-ice entertainment that will add to the tremendous talent and skill to be displayed on the ice by the All-Stars during the two-day event.

A limited number of remaining tickets for the 2010 AHL All-Star Game being played tomorrow (Tuesday) are on sale at the Cumberland County Civic Center Box Office. Individual tickets for the AHL All-Star game are $25 each.

The Civic Center Box Office is open tomorrow (Tuesday) from 9:30 a.m. until event time.
