Rattlers Take on Defending Champ Denver Outlaws in Title Game Rematch

Dallas Rattlers News Release

BROCKPORT, NY (Sunday, May 8, 2015) :56 seconds. That's the time that was left on the clock in regulation last August 23rd in the MLL title game in Atlanta, Georgia when the Denver Outlaws ripped the opportunity for a second league championship from the Rochester Rattlers grasp. This coming Sunday we celebrate Mother's Day, and the special women who nurtured and comforted us during times in our lives that mattered most. That day will also be a day that Rochester looks to gain a small amount of revenge for that heartbreaking loss, and improve their rankings in the current standings.

Denver (2-1) comes to Brockport on a 2 game winning streak as the Rattlers (2-2) are just off a tight contest against the Florida Launch where Jordan MacIntosh lifted Rochester to an OT victory. With so many players slowly trickling back to the Rattlers roster after prior obligations, the defending 2014 regular season leaders look to start playing a more offensively aggressive and defensively dominate game. They have struggled in the early going this season, eking out their only 2 wins in OT and losing in back to back games to the NY Lizards in embarrassing fashion.

Denver, a perennial contender and usual league leader each year, stands on the shoulders of All Star goalie Jesse Schwartzman and Midfielder Drew Snider (13 points in 3 games). Without John Grant Jr. in the line-up (currently playing indoor), the Outlaws are not as threatening on the offensive side of the field. Rochester will use the return of MacIntosh, Joel White, and potentially Mark Cockerton to turn up the heat on Schwartzman.

The Rattlers struggles at the face-off position will hopefully improve with the addition of Mike Poppleton at the X, after a big trade on Monday sent Attackman Miles Thompson to the Launch for Poppleton and the rights to Syracuse standout Kevin Rice. If Poppleton can be successful, and time of possession gets better for Rochester, they have the offensive firepower to out-duel any team in the league.

Game time for this Sunday's contest is 1 pm at Shriver Stadium on the College at Brockport's campus. Gates open at noon and tickets can be purchased online for as low as $15.00. There will be a Mother's Day Appreciation special of $10.00 at the box office for all moms. Call (585) 340-6905 for more information or log onto www.rochesterrattlers.com.
