Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

BELOIT, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers scored a 14-0 win over the Beloit Snappers Thursday night at Pohlman Field in support of a combined three-hit shutout by Freddy Peralta and Jake Drossner. Monte Harrison and Max McDowell each had three hits to pace Wisconsin's 16-hit attack.

Isan Diaz put the Timber Rattlers (32-35) up 1-0 in the top of the first inning. Harrison, who would score three runs in the game, singled with one out and moved to second on a wild pitch. Diaz, who leads Wisconsin in RBI, drove a single to right to send Harrison home for a 1-0 lead.

Wisconsin added to their lead in the third inning. Carlos Belonis started the inning with a bunt single and wound up on third base after a wild throw. Trent Clark knocked in Belonis with a grounder to short and the Rattlers were up 2-0.

Harrison made it 3-0 with an RBI single in the top of the fifth inning to drive in McDowell.

That was more than enough for Peralta. Beloit (31-35) only managed one hit off the Wisconsin right-hander in six innings. Peralta walked one and struck out six to pick up his third win of the season. Thanks to a double play in the third inning, Peralta faced one batter over the minimum for his six innings.

The Timber Rattlers bats were only getting warmed up though.

In the seventh, Wisconsin sent eleven men to the plate and seven scored. Alan Sharkey started the inning with a walk to send Beloit starter Boomer Biegalski to the showers. Reliever Jesus Zambrano walked Belonis and Clark bunted the runners into scoring position.

Harrison sent a grounder to short with the infield in, but Sharkey managed to slide in and avoid the tag for the first run of the inning. Diaz followed with a double to send Belonis home. Jake Gatewood's sacrifice fly got Harrison across the plate for a 6-0 lead.

David Denson was next and he doubled to score Diaz. Aviles kept the inning going with an infield single. McDowell, who extended his hitting streak to nine games with his night at the plate, had an RBI single to get Denson home. Then, a wild pitch moved both Aviles and McDowell into scoring position. Sharkey capped the scoring with a two-run single and the Rattlers were up 10-0.

Harrison doubled with one out in the top of the eighth inning and Gatewood knocked him home one out later with a single.

Wisconsin added three more runs in the top of the ninth. Aviles scored on a wild pitch and Belonis had a two-run double to make it 14-0.

Drossner pitched the final three innings, allowed two hits, and struck out three to close out the game and pick up his first professional save.

This was the largest margin of victory in the Timber Rattlers history with the Snappers dating back to 1995.

On Wednesday night, the Timber Rattlers lost 4-3 at Quad Cities and stranded 15 runners on base as they went 3-for-12 with runners in scoring position. On Thursday, the Rattlers were 10-for-18 with runners in scoring position.

Game two of the four-game series is set for Friday night at Pohlman Field. Miguel Diaz (1-6, 3.66) is scheduled to start for the Timber Rattlers. Eugene Manarino (5-2, 1.876) is the announced starter for the Snappers. Game time is 7:00pm.

The radio broadcast is on 1280 AM, WNAM starting with the pregame show at 6:40pm. The game is also available on the internet through IHeartRadio and TuneIn.
