Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Ontario Hockey League and Kitchener Rangers have joined forces with Waterloo Regional Police Services to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Ontario.

Special Olympics provide individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to perform on the sports field. Today, more than 15, 500 athletes perform in these games within Ontario. This year's National Games are to be hosted in London, Ontario.

The Kitchener Rangers continue to support Special Olympics through this season's SHOOT OUT CHALLENGE.

The Rangers will take on Waterloo Regional Police Officers in a shoot out challenge following the game on Sunday, February 7, 2010 when the Rangers host the Saginaw Spirit at 2:00pm.

Starting Friday, January 15th and at every home game until and including Sunday, February 7th, fans have the opportunity to make a minimum donation of $2 to receive a ballot and be entered to win great prizes. Visit our table in the North concourse of The Aud to support this cause.

For every $2 that you donate to the challenge you will receive one prize ballot. You can then decide who you think will win the shoot out challenge - the Rangers or the Police. Enter your prize ballot into the ballot box for either the Rangers or the Police. Come out on February 7th to see who wins the challenge. Winning prize tickets will be drawn from the winning team's ballot box. You must be at the challenge to claim your prize.

The Grand Prize includes; an autographed Kitchener Rangers Jersey, Four (4) tickets to a select Kitchener Rangers home game, a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera, a Sony-Walkman Mp3 Player and a photo cube.

The secondary prize includes; an autographed Kitchener Rangers hockey stick, a Sony Walkman Mp3 player and a stainless steel water bottle.

On Friday, February 19th when the Rangers host Guelph at 7:30pm, the Rangers will be joined by a Special Olympian for a donation presentation as well as a figure skating performance during the first intermission of the game.

Thank you in advance to all Rangers fans for your support of this great cause.
