Erie Otters News Release
KITCHENER, Ont. - Matt Halischuk scored what turned out to be the game winner on a power play midway through the second period to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a 2-1 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey league game played tonight at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.
Mike Duco netted the other Rangers goal. Justin Azevedo collected two assists.
Anthony Peluso scored for the Otters.
Erie dropped their eighth straight as their record moved to 13-42-1-2.
The Rangers improved to 38-15-1-3.
The two teams were tied at one after one. The Rangers led 2-1 heading into the third.
The Rangers out shot the Otters 52-28 in the game as Kevin Beech took the loss.
The three stars of the game were 1.Halischuk; 2. Azevedo and 3. Beech.
The next Otters home games take place tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Tullio Arena against the Ottawa 67's with a select number of fans receiving a free gift courtesy of The UPS Store. Sunday the Otters host the Rangers in a special 6 p.m. start featuring a special puck-drop by Super Bowl Champion Bob Sanders and a chance for fans to win a valuable prize package courtesy of WICU-12. Tickets for the games are available at all Erie-area TicketMaster locations as well as the Erie Civic Center Box Office.
