Rangers Host Special Hockey Benefit Game on February 12

February 4, 2013 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Kitchener Rangers News Release

Come cheer on the Kitchener Ice Pirates and Cambridge Ice Hounds as they take on the Rangers in the 6th Annual Special Hockey Benefit Game. This free exhibition contest will take place on Tuesday, February 12 from 6:00-9:00pm at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex and promises to bring a smile to every face!

There is no admission fee to attend, however a $5 dollar donation at the door will enter you into a draw for a Blackberry Playbook, furnished by the Forbes Automotive Family. There are five Playbooks to be won, and all proceeds will benefit the Cambridge Ice Hounds and the Kitchener Ice Pirates.

The Ice Hounds and Ice Pirates are two local hockey teams comprised of children and adults that have developmental or physical challenges that prevent them from participating in traditional hockey programs. The goal of both teams is to provide individuals with an opportunity to experience Canada's favourite game in a setting where there are no age groups and no tryouts. Everyone has a role: players don't need to know how to skate, hold a stick or handle a puck, though many of them do these things very well. All that is required is a heart and desire to do what many others take for granted; being part of a team, learning about teamwork and most of all having fun playing hockey!
