San Antonio Missions News Release

San Antonio - It was announced today that the Texas Rangers and San Diego Padres, the Major League affiliate of the San Antonio Missions, will play two exhibition games in the Alamodome next spring in what is being called "Big League Weekend".

The games will take place on Friday, March 29 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 at 1:05 p.m.

The announcement was made by the Ryan Sanders Baseball Group at a press conference earlier today at the Alamodome.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at noon on Friday, November 30 through Ticketmaster but Missions season ticket holders and suite owners will be sent a special link and access code to pre-purchase tickets starting today.

Big League Weekend and the Missions will also create programs to benefit local charities.

"This event is going to be a real treat for baseball fans in San Antonio and the surrounding areas," said San Antonio Missions President, Burl Yarbrough. "We are very pleased to help play a part in bringing the "˜Big League Weekend' to the Alamodome. This will be the perfect way to showcase Major League Baseball with the Texas Rangers and San Diego Padres and to get everybody ready for the 2013 regular season."

Current Rangers manager Ron Washington (1977) and third baseman Adrian Beltre (1998) along with current Padres third baseman Chase Headley (2007) are among some of those involved in the games who played part of their minor league career in San Antonio.

The Rangers and Padres have met 22 times in the regular season since 1997 with San Diego winning 12 of those contests. The teams also play two to four times every year in the Cactus League during spring training.
