October 8, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (October 8, 2012) - The San Antonio Rampage today announced the team will honor Jessica Redfield Ghawi at their Home Opener on Saturday, Oct. 13. A native of San Antonio and an avid hockey fan, Redfield was one of 12 people that were killed in the movie theater shooting incident in Aurora, Colo., in July. Redfield interned at the San Antonio media outlets Ticket 760 Sports and KABB Fox-29 and attended numerous Rampage games and practices on assignment.
Prior to the game, the Rampage will unveil the home hockey press box as the "Jessica Redfield Press Box" for the 2012-13 season. A silent auction of two Rampage game jerseys with "Redfield" inscribed on the back will be held on the concourse during the game with proceeds benefitting the Jessica Redfield Foundation.
"Jessica's involvement with the Rampage and Spurs Sports and Entertainment over the years impacted the lives of many of our staff and fans, and as we kick off the new season, we believe that it is important to continue to celebrate her life and keep her a part of the game that she loved," said Dan Weiss, Rampage Manager of Media Relations and Broadcasting, and Play-by-Play voice.
A moment of silence will be held prior to the game and Jessica's family will be in attendance to drop the ceremonial first puck.
