Rampage Reassign Orpik And Pokulok To ECHL

SAN ANTONIO (March 16, 2010) - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving today announced that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has reassigned forward Andrew Orpik to their ECHL affiliate, the Las Vegas Wranglers and defenseman Sasha Pokulok to the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL).

Orpik, 24, has tallied one goal and four assists in 22 appearances with San Antonio this season. The rookie has collected nine goals and 11 assists in 26 games with the Wranglers in the 2009-10 season.

The East Amherst, NY native attended Boston College (NCAA) where he amassed 47 points (18 goals, 29 assists) in 155 games and tacked on 145 penalty minutes over his four-year collegiate career as an Eagle.

Orpik was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the seventh round (227th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and signed an AHL contract with the Rampage on August 25, 2009.

Pokulok, 23, has collected two goals and one assist in eight games with the Rampage in 2009-10. Prior to joining the Rampage on Feb. 23, Pokulok scored 11 goals, 17 assists and posted a plus-9 rating in 39 games with the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL). In 83 career ECHL games, he has amassed 16 goals, 38 assists and a plus-28 rating over the span of four seasons with South Carolina and Bakersfield. In 2009 he was a member of the Kelly Cup Champion South Carolina Stingrays in which he made 11 playoff appearances and posted four assists.

The Montreal, Quebec native has appeared in 68 career AHL games recording three goals and 12 assists over the course of four seasons with Hershey, Springfield and San Antonio.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound blueliner collected seven goals and 16 assists in 53 games with Cornell University (NCAA, 2004-06). He was selected in the first round (14th overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The Rampage host West Division rival Peoria Rivermen tomorrow night for a St. Patrick's Day matchup at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center in which fans can purchase green beer while supplies last.
