San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage (20-21-7-0) opened the Rodeo Road Trip with a 4-3 loss to the Texas Stars (26-18-3-3) in front of 5,591 at the Cedar Park Center on Saturday night. Borna Rendulic led the Rampage with two tallies, and Roman Will finished with 33 saves on 37 shots.

The Rampage were outshot 17-9 in the opening period, and the Stars took advantage of their opportunities early and often, getting on the board first with a goal from Esa Lindell midway through the frame. A Travis Morin shot rebounded off of Will to the stick of Brett Ritchie, who punched it past Will for the Stars' second tally at 14:22, and Brendan Ranford deflected a Stephen Johns shot from the point on the power play to give Texas a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Rampage opened the second-period scoring less than two minutes into the frame, as Borna Rendulic beat Philippe Desrosiers from the right circle to make it 3-1. With the primary assist on the tally, Garrett Thompson recorded his first assist in a Rampage uniform and his 50th professional point.

Rendulic lit the lamp again at the 7:31 mark, carrying the puck to the slot before unleashing a shot that beat Desrosiers to bring the Silver and Black within one. Travis Morin scored his seventh goal of the season against the Rampage at 14:20 to give the Stars a 4-2 lead heading into the break.

Despite outshooting the Stars 13-8 in the final stanza, the Rampage were unable to complete the comeback. With under a minute remaining in regulation and Will on the bench for the extra attacker, Maxim Noreau collected a pass from Joey Hishon and fired to bring the Rampage within one with 37 ticks left on the clock. San Antonio was unable to tally the equalizer, falling 4-3.

The Rampage finished scoreless on five opportunities with the man advantage, while the Stars scored one power-play goal on four chances.
