San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Thanks to a Patrick Dwyer hat trick, the Charlotte Checkers (37-29-5-0) defeated the San Antonio Rampage (25-39-5-2) 5-2 on Wednesday night at Bojangles' Coliseum. ?? After a scoreless first period, Charlotte opened the scoring with back-to-back goals from Dwyer at the 6:55 and 10:14 marks. Phil Di Giuseppe and Lucas Wallmark tallied assists on both of Dwyer's second-period goals, giving them their first points of what would be a three-point night for all three forwards. San Antonio's Reid Petryk cut into the Charlotte lead at the 13:17 mark when he tallied his sixth of the year. The Checkers took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.

The third period fell silent until the 16:55 mark when Wallmark sent a wrister from the left circle and past Rampage netminder Spencer Martin. Former Rampage and now Checkers winger Connor Brickley added to the Charlotte lead just 19 seconds later when he finished a Dennis Robertson pass from the slot for his 14th of the season. San Antonio landed a second goal with 21 seconds remaining in the stanza thanks to Brendan Ranford, who extended his goal streak to two games. But the Rampage momentum was stopped six seconds later when Dwyer registered his third and final goal to complete his first AHL hat trick since March 21, 2009.
