San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Goaltender Jacob Markstrom made 28 saves but the San Antonio Rampage suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Barons on Thursday night at the AT&T Center. With the loss, the Rampage trail their Western Conference Semifinal series three games to one.
After two scoreless periods, the Barons posted the game's first goal at the 10:56 mark of the third. Oklahoma City went up 1-0 when Hunter Tremblay found the puck in a goalmouth scramble and lifted it over Markstrom's leg pads for his fourth goal of the playoffs.
The Rampage tied the score at 1-1 with a goal from Bill Thomas nearly five minutes later. He took a centering feed from Bracken Kearns and beat Barons net-minder Yann Danis to the goaltender's left to pick up his fifth goal of the postseason.
Just 1:05 into the extra session, Chris VandeVelde recorded his second straight game-winning overtime goal to hand the Barons the 2-1 victory. Teemu Hartikainen found VandeVelde with a pass at the front of the San Antonio net and VandeVelde fired a backhander over an outstretched Markstrom for his third goal of the playoffs.
Danis stopped 30 of the 31 Rampage shots he faced while Markstrom made 28 saves on 30 Barons attempts.
The Rampage and Barons will face-off in Game 5 of their series tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. (CST) at the AT&T Center.
