SAN ANTONIO (March 31, 2010) - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney today announced that the Coyotes have signed defenseman Chris Summers to an entry level contract. He will report to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
In addition, San Antonio Rampage General Manager Brad Treliving today announced that the AHL club has signed right wing Jordan Szwarz to an Amateur Try-Out (ATO) contract.
Summers, 22, recently completed his senior season at the University of Michigan, recording 4-12-16 and 28 penalty minutes (PIM) in 40 games while serving as team captain of the Wolverines. He also won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2006 Under-18 World Championship in Sweden.
A native of Milan, Michigan, Summers was originally selected by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft.
