Rainiers S.H.I.E.L.D. Night

April 6, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - S.H.I.E.L.D. NIGHT is back at Cheney Stadium for its third season. Tomorrow, Saturday, April 7, 2012, the Rainiers will welcome the Salt Lake Bees to the field, and the men and women of local law enforcement to the stadium. With its origin in the wake of the Lakewood Police Department tragedy, S.H.I.E.L.D. NIGHT is now held each year to celebrate the men and women of our local law enforcement and the work that they do protecting and serving the public.

Eric Radulescu, son of Trooper Tony Radulescu who was killed on duty in February, will be throwing out the first pitch, followed by a moment of silence. Youth members from the organization Chief for a Day will be honored on field. The 2012 Tacoma Rainiers will be wearing specialty jerseys during the game. These jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the first six innings. The lucky winners will be named five minutes after the last out of the sixth inning and winners can pick up their freshly autographed game-worn jerseys twenty minutes after the game.

The dollar amount raised by the jersey auction, along with a portion of the proceeds from single game walk up tickets sold, has equaled over $20,000 given to the Guild over the course of the previous two years. This year all proceeds will benefit the Guild's Make a Difference Fund, a fund that helps those people whom police officers come in contact with who are in need of immediate assistance for basic human needs, such as food, clothing and housing, as well as children who have been victims of criminal acts or who live in less than ideal circumstances.
