Rainiers hold on for win

The Tacoma Rainiers built a 6-1 lead as they held on for a 6-5 victory over the Oklahoma RedHawks Monday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The Rainiers lead the four-game series 2-1.

Tacoma (48-62) scored a run on two hits in the top of the first inning. Oklahoma (54-53) answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the first, making it 1-1.

The Rainiers added two runs on three hits in the second inning, taking a 3-1 lead. In the sixth inning, the Rainiers scored three more run on four hits, building a 6-1 lead. Jeremy Reed led the way for the Rainiers, going 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

The RedHawks pulled within two runs in the seventh inning when Guillermo Quiroz hit a 3-run homer to left field. The RedHawks added another run on one hit in the eighth, making the score 6-5. Quiroz led the way for the RedHawks at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs.

Ryan Feierabend (3-3) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. Julio Mateo got the final five outs for his 12th save of the season.

Chris Baker (1-3) took the loss by allowing six runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings.

The finale of the series is Tuesday at 7:05 pm CDT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
