Rainiers Drop Finale In Salt Lake, 4-2

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. - The Salt Lake Bees earned a series win with a 4-2 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark.

Starting pitcher Forrest Snow worked 5.0 innings for Tacoma and allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts - he was saddled with the loss, his ninth of the year.

Tacoma's offense managed 10 hits off Salt Lake starter Jo-Jo- Reyes, but could only manage two runs, both of which came in the eighth inning.

Down 4-0 going into the eighth, Steve Baron led off the inning for Tacoma with a double, his third hit of the night. Chris Taylor followed with a single to move Baron to third and promptly stole second to put a pair of runners in scoring position. James Jones brought Baron home with a sacrifice fly and Jesus Montero swatted an RBI single to score Taylor and cut Salt Lake's lead to 4-2.

Taylor (2x4), Jones (2x3), Baron (3x3), and Kivlehan (2x4) all recorded multi-hit performances for the Rainiers, who combined for 11 hits.

Tacoma (66-74) travels to Las Vegas (75-64) to kick off the final series of the season tomorrow, September 4. Right-hander Adrian Sampson (2-3, 6.82) will take the ball in the opener for the Rainiers, while the 51s are slated to go with righty Dillon Gee (7-3, 4.87). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
