LAST TIME OUT: James Kruger made 35 saves on 38 shots against but the Rail Yard Dawgs offense could not break through as they were shut out by the Peoria Rivermen, 3-0, Saturday night at Carver Arena. Rivermen goaltender Tyler Parks made 24 saves and Jeff Jones scored a pair of goals.

THE OTHER GUYS: Peoria's win on Saturday was its seventh straight and it secured a berth in the postseason for the Rivermen. The Rivs have outscored the Rail Yard Dawgs, 9-4, during the first two meetings of the weekend. Roanoke and Peoria will finish their three-in-three stretch on Sunday and play the third of five scheduled meetings between the clubs. The Dawgs will host the Rivermen for two at the Berglund Center over March 17-18.

STRETCH RUN: The Rail Yard Dawgs have 12 games remaining in the regular season, seven of which will be played on the road. Roanoke currently occupies the eighth and final playoff spot and sits just one point clear of the ninth-place Columbus Cottonmouths. The Rail Yard Dawgs play the Cottonmouths three more times this season, with all three games taking place at the Berglund Center.

PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE: Jeff Jones followed up his hat trick on Friday with a pair of goals during Peoria's 3-0 win on Saturday. In two games against the Rail Yard Dawgs, Jones has five goals. In 38 games against the rest of the SPHL, he has nine.

ROANOKE REELING: The Rail Yard Dawgs loss on Saturday was their third in a row and pushed their record to 1-6-1 in their last eight games. Roanoke had won three of its previous four games before entering the current eight-game rough patch.

SUNDAY NO-FUN DAY: Roanoke will take the ice on a Sunday for the fifth time this season, having gone 0-4-0 in the previous four Sunday games.

BUSY IN NET: James Kruger made 35 saves on Saturday and has now made at least 31 saves in 10 of his 11 starts as a Rail Yard Dawg.

ROAD WARRIORS: Saturday's game marks the sixth of eight-straight road games for the Rail Yard Dawgs. Roanoke will go nearly a full calendar month between home games, a gap spanning February 18 to March 17, when the Dawgs host the Rivermen. The Rail Yard Dawgs are now 6-13-2 on the road as opposed to 8-11-4 at home

BLANKED: The Rail Yard Dawgs were shut out by the Rivermen, 3-0, on Saturday, the third time this season that Roanoke has been shut out. The Dawgs had not been held off the scoreboard in a game since a 4-0 loss to the Evansville Thunderbolts on 11/19, a span of 33 games.

UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs will remain on the road and head south to Alabama to take on the Huntsville Havoc on Friday at 7 PM CST. Roanoke will follow that with a Saturday matchup with the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:30 PM CST.
