Raiders Select Brendan Guhle 3rd Overall

Prince Albert SK - The Prince Albert Raiders have selected defenceman Brendan Guhle with their first pick, third overall in the 2012 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft in Calgary, Alberta this morning.

Guhle, a native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, scored 9 goals and added 15 assists for 24 points in 32 games this season with the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League. The 6'0, 165-pound defenceman also recorded 3 goals and an assist in 5 games in the Alberta Cup this spring.

"He is a very good skater and competes hard," said Raiders Director of Player Personnel Dale Derkatch, "He has good skill and the size to go with it."

The Raiders traded their first round pick, second overall, in exchange for Prince George's first round pick, third overall, and the Cougars' third round draft pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Raiders currently hold two picks in the 2nd round, with the 23rd and 41st selections. The draft can be followed live via webcast on www.whl.ca.
