Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League in collaboration with Royer Work Boots, is pleased to announce that goaltender Rylan Parenteau of the Prince Albert Raider is the winner of the 2016 WHL Royer Hardest Working Player of the Year Award. Parenteau was chosen by the Prince Albert Raiders' fans as his team's Hardest Working Player in mid-March. Parenteau then went on to win the title of the WHL's Hardest Working Player following a league-wide fan poll.

The Hardest Working Player of the Year is designed to honour the player who best exemplifies dependability, quality of play and commitment to his team throughout the regular season. Fans felt that Parenteau exemplified those qualities, which earned him the title of the WHL Royer Hardest Working Player of the Year for the 2015-2016 season.

The 19-year-old netminder posted a 25-17-5-1 record to go along with a 2.82 goals against average and a .913 save percentage to help lead the Raiders back to the WHL Playoffs. Furthermore, Parenteau posted three shutouts in 55 appearances. Parenteau was selected by the Raiders in the third round, 53rd overall, of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. Parenteau is eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft.

"The WHL Royer Hardest Working Player of the Year Award is a significant honour as it not only reflects a player with an incredible work ethic on the ice but an individual who is highly respected by both his teammates and his opponents," commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. "Congratulations to Rylan Parenteau, who is a most deserving recipient and many thanks to Royer for serving as title sponsor of this award."
