Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Moose Jaw, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (6-5-3-0) couldn't hold on to their third period lead on Thursday night as they fell 5-2 to the Moose Jaw Warriors (12-4-0-0) at Mosaic Place.

The loss snapped the Raiders' three-game winning streak and five-game point streak.

Brett Leason opened the game's scoring with a fantastic individual effort. The recently-acquired forward stepped around Warriors defenceman Oleg Sosunov on the rush and wired a shot past the shoulder of goaltender Brody Willms at the 5:31 mark for his first as a Raider.

Right before the end of the period, the Warriors tied it up. Luka Burzan solved Curtis Meger with 17 seconds to play to make it a 1-1 game after one period.

Devon Skoleski put the Raiders back in front at the 8:32 mark of the second period. He stripped the Warriors' defenceman of the puck in front of Moose Jaw's goal and chipped the puck over Willms for his sixth of the season.

In the third, Brayden Burke tied the game on a mid-period power play. Then, the Warriors scored three goals in 35 seconds, including two by Jayden Halbgewachs, to take the game with a 5-2 final.

In goal, Meger stopped 37 of 42 shots fired his way in a losing effort. Willms made 23 saves in the win.

The Raiders return to the Art Hauser Centre on Friday night when they host the Swift Current Broncos (10-2-1-0). On Saturday, the Warriors visit Prince Albert to close out the weekend's slate of games. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office, or by calling 306-764-5348.
