Racers Name Stephen Dunn General Manager

January 31, 2018 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) News Release


Akron, Ohio - The Akron Racers name Stephen Dunn as the team's General Manager today. In his role, Dunn will oversee all team operations and player personnel. Longtime General Manager, Joey Arrieta, remains the team's president and minority owner and will focus on critical initiatives of Akron Racers Foundation and Akron Racers Charities.

"I want to thank the Akron Racers for this tremendous opportunity," said Dunn. "I am incredibly excited and feel I am the right man for the job. I look forward to working with our front office to field the most competitive team possible and to continue growing our sport."

"Stephen is a passionate and highly motivated individual and our organization has the utmost confidence in his abilities. His experience and attitude made him the ideal choice to be our next General Manager."

Dunn, a former collegiate baseball player and graduate from Hiram College, has also played for several semi-professional baseball organizations. After establishing a career in sales and marketing with multiple Northeast Ohio companies, Dunn most recently served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Westshore Marketing Group, Inc., a business created by him and his father James Dunn. Stephen hopes to apply his background in both business and athletics as he leads the Akron Racers into their upcoming 2018 season.

About the Akron Racers: The Akron Racers, headquartered in Akron, OH, are the oldest existing team in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league. The Racers will celebrate their 17th season of play in 2018. The Racers competed in the Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL) for two seasons in 1999 and 2000 and in the NPF since 2004. Historic Firestone Stadium is home to the Racers and numerous amateur events at all levels of play.
