New York Boulders News Release

QUEBEC, CANADA- Despite Elvin Soto's best efforts, the Rockland Boulders couldn't hang on against the Quebec Capitales, getting swept on the road, 12-1.

Soto finished the game 2-4, with Rockland's (38-33), leading the Boulders in hits. Since he arrived in the trade with Sussex County, he is hitting a solid .276. Junior Arrojo, fresh off of his appearance in the American Association All-Star game, continued to get on-base, finishing 1-3 with a walk.

The Boulders started rookie Mike Adams (4-4), hoping to break their losing streak, but he got off to a rough start. However, his line isn't as bad as it first appears, with only four of his eight runs allowed being earned in his four innings pitched. Luis Sanz came on after him hoping to stop the bleeding. He didn't fare much better, allowing four earned runs in his two innings of work as well.

He then gave way to recently re-signed reliever and former Kansas City Royal Donnie Joseph, who allowed only one earned run in his two innings to close out the ballgame. The staff had a hard time with control, striking out only four batters to their seven walks allowed. Joseph led the way with two strikeouts.

Quebec (42-28) countered Adams with Jasvir Rakkar (9-1), who was able to hold the Boulders scoreless during his six innings pitched, while only giving up three hits. His ninth win gave him the league lead. The Boulders leader, Markus Solbach, recorded six, before he was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Mac Acker took over and threw two shutout innings, before giving way to Lachlan Fontaine, who allowed Rockland's one run, before shutting the door in the ninth.

The Boulders will try to stop their nine game skid when they return to Palisades Credit Union Park tomorrow night, to take on league worst Trois-Rivieres with the first pitch scheduled for 7 P.M.
