Quakes Hold On To Beat JetHawks 6-4
June 7, 2010 - California League (CalL1)
Lancaster JetHawks News Release
The JetHawks kept the Quakes on their toes, but in the end Rancho Cucamonga held on to defeat Lancaster 6-4 Sunday evening in the series finale. Down 5-1 through seven, Lancaster fought back to get to within two before falling. The Quakes take the series, winning three of the four games.
A home run by Albert Cartwright in the first inning gave the JetHawks the early lead. They had a chance to extend the lead when they loaded the bases with one out in the second, but a double play ended the threat. Lancaster grounded into three double plays during the game.
That gave the Quakes a chance to take over, which they did by scoring twice in their half of the second inning. Solitary runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh made it a four run lead before the JetHawks battled back.
The teams traded runs in the eighth before a Lancaster rally in the ninth inning. With two outs, Josh Flores walked. Jay Austin belted a ball over the right field wall for his sixth home run of the year, bringing Lancaster within two. Albert Cartwright walked to keep hope alive, but Brandon Barnes popped up to end the game.
The JetHawks open a seven-game homestand Monday night by welcoming the Visalia Rawhide for their first visit of the season to Clear Channel Stadium. Dallas Keuchel (1-5) takes the mound for the JetHawks against Ryan Cook(1-4) of the Rawhide. The game begins at 7:00 PM and will be broadcast live on CSN @ JetHawks.com and NewsTalk 1380 AM with the JetHawks Pre-Game Show beginning at 6:45.
It's a Feed Your Face Monday at the Hangar. Fans can purchase a Reserved Section game ticket, plus All-You-Can-Eat hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, and peanuts for just $10.
