Quakes Get Blown out in Lancaster

Lancaster, CA-- The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes lost game two to the Lancaster JetHawks in blowout fashion, falling 15-1 on Wednesday night at The Hangar in Lancaster.

The Quakes are now four games back of Lancaster in the South Division with five games to go in the regular season. At worst, Rancho will enter the 2016 Cal League Playoffs as the wild card team.

Dodgers' major league rehabber Andre Ethier finished 2-for-4 with a double and RBI single in his fifth rehab game. He is now 7-for-17 with three doubles and two RBIs in five games during his rehab stint. All Dodgers rehabbers are brought to you by San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino.

Lancaster jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.

In the bottom of the first, Kyle Tucker hit his first of three RBI doubles, scoring Johnny Sewald to make it 1-0. Later in the inning, Bryan Muniz hit an RBI groundout to score Tucker.

After scoring a run in the third and fourth innings, Lancaster broke the game open with five runs in the sixth. The first five hitters of the inning reached base and all came around to score, thanks to RBI singles from Jamie Ritchie and Osvaldo Duarte. Aaron Mizell added a two-run triple and Myles Straw hit a sacrifice fly to cap the five-run frame to put Lancaster ahead, 9-0.

The JetHawks scored two more runs in the seventh before rounding out the night with a four-run eighth inning. Kyle Tucker hit his third RBI double, and Jason Martin blasted a three-run home run, his third of the series and his 23rd of the season to complete the scoring for Lancaster.

Rancho scored their only run of the night in the eighth inning, when Ethier hit an RBI single to score Noah Perio.

Brock Dykxhoorn (10-4) picked up the win for the JetHawks, after tossing seven scoreless innings. He allowed just three hits and struck out eight.

Felipe Gonzalez (3-7) started and was hit with the loss for Rancho Cucamonga, after he allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in four innings. The bullpen struggled, too, with Alex Hermeling allowing four earned runs on four hits in one inning, and Gavin Pittore giving up three runs (two earned) in his two innings of work. David Reid-Foley also allowed four earned runs on four hits in the eighth inning.

Rancho (35-30, 77-58) will conclude their series against the first-place JetHawks with game three on Thursday. Chris Anderson (1-2, 3.13 ERA) is slated to start the finale on Thursday, while the JetHawks will answer with Jose Hernandez (3-3, 4.14) going to the mound. Game time on Thursday will be 6:35 p.m.

The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field for their final series of the regular season on Friday, September 2nd, when they host the Modesto Nuts in a four-game series.
