Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- In a game that started with clouds and rain and ended in sun, the Quakes took down Inland Empire 6-0 to earn their second shutout of the year and end the four-game series with a 2-2 split.

The Quakes' original starter, Yadier Alvarez was scratched late, so Ryan Moseley started in his place and pitched well to set the tone. He threw four scoreless innings, only giving up two hits while striking out three and walking one.

In the first inning, the Quakes scored first when Luke Raley singled and later scored from second on a wild pitch.

In a rainy fourth inning, Rancho scored four times to take a commanding 5-0 lead. After three straight singles began the inning, Brandon Montgomery grounded into a fielder's choice up the middle to score a run and Erick Mejia did the same to make it 3-0, Quakes. Raley then lined a base hit into left to score Mejia and Ibandel Isabel brought home Omar Estevez on a bases-loaded walk.

Logan Landon launched his first home run of the season at LoanMart Field, and his third overall, in the seventh inning to give the Quakes a 6-0 lead and cap the scoring.

Andrew Istler (1-2) earned the win in his three shutout innings for the Quakes (16-15), while Austin Robichaux (0-1) was tagged with the loss for the 66ers (14-17) by throwing three and two-thirds innings with five runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking two.

After a day off Monday, the Quakes (16-15) are on the road starting, Tuesday, May 9, against the San Jose Giants for the first game of a three-game series at 7:00 PM. Left-hander Rich Hill (0-1) is expected to get the start for the Quakes while the Giants will counter with righty Jake McCasland (0-2).

The three-game series with the Giants starts a seven-game road trip (San Jose and Visalia) before the Quakes return home to face Lake Elsinore for game one of a seven-game home stand, Tuesday, May 16th at 7:05 pm. The MVP gates will open at 5:45 and the main gates will open at 6:05. It will be Healthy RC Recylce Tuesday!
