Dayton, Ohio-Alan Ahmady collected three hits including a home run and drove in four runs as the Quad Cities River Bandits defeated the Dayton Dragons 11-3 on Saturday night before a crowd of 9,036 at Fifth Third Field.

The River Bandits, who hold down first place in the Midwest League West Division, pounded out 14 hits. Matt Adams went 3 for 5 with two runs batted in and Devin Goodwin had two hits with a homer.

Quad Cities led 4-2 when they scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to break the game open. Dragons starting pitcher Blair Carson (3-4) allowed the first three runs in the inning and suffered the loss. On the night, Carson was credited with four innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs (six earned) with one walk and one strikeout.

Dayton finished with nine hits. Henry Rodriguez belted a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning, his 10th of the year. Ryan LaMarre went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Rodriguez and Josh Garton each had two hits. Rodriguez also stole a base.

The Dragons (8-19) battle the River Bandits (17-9) on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the second game of a three-game set. Jacob Johnson (5-6, 4.89) will start for Dayton against Justin Smith (5-0, 2.39). The series concludes Monday at 7:00 p.m. when Homer Bailey is scheduled to start for the Dragons on an injury rehabilitation assignment.
