Pruitt Leads Flash To Dominating Win Over Bighorns

RENO, NV, Jan. 31, 2010 - The Utah Flash didn't wait long to avenge last night's three point loss to the Reno Bighorns. The Flash returned to the gym less than 24 hours after dropping one to Reno and came away with a dominating 111-76 victory. Utah was led by Gabe Pruitt who scored 22 points on 8-12 shooting, and added five assists in the win.

Utah came out hot in the first quarter and ran to a seven point lead to end the first quarter. Bighorns leading scorer Desmon Farmer led the way for Reno with seven first quarter points. Strong team defense for Utah provided five blocks and four steals in the opening quarter.

The Flash showed some signs of energy in the second quarter and pushed the lead to as many as 14 during the quarter. Utah was led by Pruitt's 12 first-half points. Will Blalock would not let the Bighorns fall too far behind and put in 17 points of his own in the first half. And the end of two quarters the Flash led by a score of 54-47.

Utah came out of the half with even more intensity and continued to push the pace of the game in the third quarter. The Flash built a 20 point lead early in the third and continued to dominate the game. Overall the Flash shot 50-percent from the floor on the night, compared to just 33-percent for the Bighorns. At the end of three quarters the Flash led by 19 points.

Utah's lead ballooned to as many as 35 points in the final quarter, and the Flash finished with a 111-76 win. Gabe Pruitt led the way for the Flash with 22 points, shooting 4-6 from behind the three-point line. He was helped by Orien Greene, who had 20 points and Dontell Jefferson who had 16 points. Bennet Davis grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds while Brian Hamilton had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Will Blalock led the Bighorns with 27 points.

The Flash return home to face the Tulsa 66ers on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the McKay Events Center. Utah will play nine of their next 11 games at home.
