Prospects Hunter Jones and Nate McDonald Piling up Accomplishments

Peterborough, ON- While the Petes have been putting together a winning streak and climbing the OHL rankings, goalie prospects Hunter Jones and Nate McDonald have been piling up accomplishments of their own.

Earlier this week, Jones became the first ever 16 year-old goalie to be named to a Canadian World Jr. A Hockey Challenge roster. The 6'3", 194lbs Brantford native, who was selected by the Petes in the fifth round, 89th overall in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, will play for Team Canada East in the tournament, which runs from December 9 to 17 in Bonnyville, Alberta.

Jones is the youngest player on the Team Canada East roster, and enters the tournament with a 5-2 record with his OJHL's Stouffville Spirit, putting up a 2.56 goals against average and .927 save percentage.

McDonald, who was Peterborough's 13th round (246th overall) pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, has helped the NOJHL's Powassan Voodoos in an impressive 20-game winning streak. The North Bay native won all six games he played in November, putting up a 1.66 goals against average and .939 save percentage.

The 17 year-old's stingy numbers earned him the third star nod in the CJHL Gongshow Gear Three Stars for November awards. McDonald recently played for Team NOJHL at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge.
