About the NIFL and the Katy Copperheads:

The Katy Copperheads are one of 11 new expansion teams in the NIFL for 2006. In total, the NIFL will have 31 teams for the 2006 season, which will start in March. The Katy Copperheads will kick off their inaugural season at the newly constructed Merrell Center off Interstate 10 across from the Katy Mills Mall. The Leonard E. Merrell Center is operated by Katy ISD.

Katy will be part of the southwest conference which includes Lubbock, San Angelo, Corpus Christi and Beaumont. Many players in the NIFL have gone on to the NFL and vice versa. Coach Blake expects to see, and has already been contacted by a few ex-Texans wanting to join the Copperheads to help stay in shape and hopefully get back into the NFL. The best part of indoor football is that the fans are so close to the field. Box Seats are available right on the wall. Also, every football that goes into the stands is a fan's to keep and have signed by the players on the field right after the game. Katy Copperheads and Season tickets information is available online at www.katyprofootball.com . The first round of open Tryouts will the held in late November or early December.
